The Wiikey has six points to solder on to the DVD drive. This can be done either via wires or through the "quicksolder" method.
The Wiikey’s firmware works by a process of funneling through the debug serial port. This effectively tricks the DVD drive into believing that the backup is in fact genuine. Periodic firmware updates are released from the Wiikey development team, as well as configuration discs used to change the Wiikey settings. Both can be found on the Wiikey website.
